2nd commemorative tile
The 2nd annual commemorative tile was created by Kirsten Walsted of SoMi Tileworks in South Minneapolis. SoMi Tiles are created by pressing a coarse white clay body into original plaster molds that we have created over the years. Our ideas are endless as our work is ever changing. The tiles are hand glazed and fired to a stoneware temperature of 2140 degrees (cone 4).
Fun Note: Notice that hand has five fingers and it just happened to be the 5th year of the Minnesota Tile Festival. Coincidence?
